Most of my F-list has been doing this, so I have no idea who I really snagged it from first. But I've added a number of new friends on both journals, so I thought I should post something like this, so my new friends have some vague idea of who I am.
How did you come to start your LJ?
I had been writing fanfiction and just posting it to fanfiction.net, but after I figured out that a lot of people were posting their Buffy fic to Livejournal too, I created an account there.
How did you find your first friends?
I mostly let them find me. I was tremendously anxious about friending people, because I'm on the shy and awkward side, but I made some friends who were Willow writers when I started posting in [Bad username or site: Are those first friends still on your FL? Yep. I'm still relatively new to LJ, so my first friends are most of my FL. How long have you been on LJ? Since 23 September, 2011, so just over a year. Do you have more friends or communities on your FL? Communities, but they're close to even. Do you do a lot of friends cuts? Not really. What do you like in an LJ friend? I tend to like friends who share my interests and fandoms, and who post interesting things. What do you dislike in an LJ friend? People who post hateful things or are generally mean-spirited. It's not something I've encountered, but I've definitely heard about people who do that. What would make you un-friend someone immediately? Probably if they were posting misogynistic bullshit, because I really, really can't deal with sexists. Also, if somebody was making a lot of homophobic or racist or generally nasty posts, I'd unfriend them. Have you been caught up in a lot of LJ drama? Nope. I didn't even realize LJ drama was a thing until I saw this meme. Everyone I've met seems way to nice for drama! Do real-life friends and family members know you have a journal on LJ? No. It's never a discussion topic that's come up because it's not really a site any of them are familiar with. They know about my blog on Tumblr, though. Do you also have Facebook and if so, what do you prefer – LJ or FB? Yes, but I use it mostly to stay in contact with friends who live far away or with people who don't have my phone number. I recently deactivated it because I got contacted to take part in a class action lawsuit against Facebook for privacy violations and it made me a little suspicious. What about Twitter? Nope. Do you blog on any other sites? I have a Dreamwidth, on which I normally crosspost LJ entries, and a Tumblr, where I do more reblogging and RL blogging. How often do you check in on LJ? I used to be really irregular about it, but I'm making an attempt to be a better LJ friend and I'm logging in almost daily and posting and commenting more often. What do you rarely or never post about? RL, though I've started posting a little about that, and politics, because I'm very, very liberal and argumentative about my politics, and I don't want to offend anyone or lose F-listers because of my non-fannish opinions. Why don't you post about that? See above. Have you ever thought about deleting your journal? No, because I've never seen any reason to. I have a DW in case I decide to migrate, but I'm happy on LJ. Have you ever changed your username? Nope. Why did you choose your current username? I was a little stumped about a username, but I really like the concept of "White Hats"= good guys and "Black Hats"= bad guys, which I'd heard reiterated on Heroes and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I decided to use that. I'm a sucker for the good guys. If you're looking for new friends, how do you find them? I like making friends through ficathons, because then I know we share similar interests and that we're both active in fandom. I recently made a number of new friends through the LJ is Alive! Meme, but that's the first LJ friending meme I've ever done. Are you taking new people on to your Friends List just now? Absolutely! Finally, tell us the reasons why you keep an online journal. I mostly started my online journal as a place to post my fanfiction and get some feeback, but the more time I've spent on LJ, the more I've come to appreciate the sense of community in fandom, and I like keeping my journal, because it lets me participate in that community. @ livejournal.com]
